About EastWing Lifestyle

The name EastWing has been an integral part of my life for the past 25 years and now in 2016, it has evolved to become EastWing LifestyleLife with a Difference.

In the early 1990’s, we completed an extension to our home. It was self-contained, comfortable accommodation to the east side of our house so that we could welcome family and friends to holiday and stay with us at our beach location, Yeppoon, on the east coast of Queensland. In fun, we referred to the area as the east wing and soon the name was permanently associated with this new part of our home. On my 40th birthday, my sister Mary and her family presented me with an original hand-carved timber plaque of the words East Wing. I was delighted and surprised by such a beautiful gift as I appreciated the thought involved in the purchase of this unique gift and soon the plaque was hanging proudly in our home.

Over the years, our plaque has travelled with us to many homes and locations, each with its own story. It has been packed in storage boxes, transported to various locations across the country, unpacked and hung in new homes, packed again, transported again, unpacked again. When we lived in our caravan, the annexe was affectionately known as the East Wing.

East Wing has always meant something special to me; it is a part of who I am – one who likes to welcome family and friends and provide hospitality in the home. Now I have created my blog and named it EastWing LifestyleLife with a Difference, because my life has been different and I want to share my stories with everyone. The word Lifestyle was added after we moved to Thailand and completely changed our way of life from living in Australia and working 40 hours per week to one where I am able to spend time doing what I love – spending time with my husband, writing my stories and living in another culture. I have so many stories to share and have only just started to write so watch this space and become part of the EastWing experience.
